Lobster Tails—Marinated with reduced milk, crushed garlic and ginger
Chicken Tikka Masala—Grilled chicken in tomato fenu Greek sauce
Roganjosh—Braised lamb in aromatic sauce

I order from Basera all the time, in my opinion as a Curry lover, it's the best in The City! The Jalfrezi is amazing, always tastes fresh and always delivered hot! Order from here you won't be disappointed!

WARNING: DO NOT ORDER HERE.
Ordered food and was delivered the wrong thing. Normally not a big deal, but they demanded I give the food back to the delivery person when he arrived, EVEN AFTER I EXPLAINED I HAD TAKEN A BITE. They were going to redeliver it.
I didn't think it was true until he arrived and I didn't have the brown bag anymore. He started unloading his bag and putting my misdelivered food in it instead of the more practical plastic bag he was also carrying. Not really practical if they were just going to take the food back to throw it away.
No, they were going to take my food that my sickly self had coughed into to someone else.
Worst part, this wasn't just a bad delivery guy. Whoever I talked to at the restaurant was doing this.

Good food...if it ever shows up! If it's going to take an hour and a half then don't have the estimate at 25-40 minutes!

Ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and Saag. Was given a 25-40min window and they arrived at 40min on the dot! Food was delicious and I have plenty of leftovers!!! Heads up, the mild sauce still has a bit of a kick to it (which I really liked), but if you're super sensitive to spice, be wary. Definitely will order from here again.

I've ordered from here several times and the food has always been great. Also, incredibly fast delivery. Sometimes it only takes 20 minutes! Dishes are great for splitting between two people.

I order generally every weekend from work and I find the food is delicious and not greasy. It always tastes fresh and not like it's been sitting for hours. I've never had any delivery issues.

They dont deliver in the time they email they say they do. Takes way too long for food that is just ok.
Posted 2 years ago by Sean H.
I wish I could rate the quality of the food, but the food never arrived. As for the service, giving an one star would be overrating the restaurant. The expected delivery time was 20 minutes so I called the restaurant after an hour passed, but they put me "on hold" forever and never gave me the status update.

The potato saga and Dahl were both great. Rice cooked perfectly.
No complaints here!

Food was great and delivery was quick. have ordered from this restaurant multiple times and their quality and service is very consistent!!

I pretty much just get one thing (Saag), so I can't speak to the menu as a whole, but the Saag is tasty and delivery is decent.

Never order from this restaurant. Horrible service. Its been so long I placed order and my food is not delivered yet. I have called up twice and everytime I am getting some different excuse.
Requesting everyone ...dont order any food from here and never visit this place.
Horrible Horrible Horrible Horrible....
I wish I would have got option to give rating in minus

Delicious Indian Food. Great prices as well. For 8 dollars I got a carton of rice, slice of naan, and a carton of Vegetable Korma which was delicious. The only problem was that, for a restaurant that is fairly close to me it look forever to deliver. After an hour of waiting and no updates on Food Tracker I called in. Only then did my food come 15 minutes later.
Posted 2 years ago by Kathy G.
This is the best Indian spot in Hell's Kitchen. I highly recommend the dal makhani.

Good for the price but unexceptional.

Nothing special. Chicken was rather dry, and there was not a lot of it.
Posted 2 years ago by Sam L.
Incredibly slow service. The food is decent but I pre-tipped them 25% and it still took 90+ minutes and 2 phone calls to get my food, when their estimate was "25-40 minutes." I used to order form here all the time and it's just been getting slower and slower.
Posted 2 years ago by Bryan H.
They estimated 24 - 40 minutes for delivery time. After an hour, I called and was told that it would be another 20 minutes. I'd avoid this place.

Food was average but delivery took 90 mins. When it finally did arrive it was a mess in a soggy bag. The bottom of the paper bag was gone. Several containers were completely empty as it had all leaked out. I had to throw the entire thing in the trash. I called the restaurant and they said they'd credit my card. Better be true because I won't let this go. Now I'm starving and angry. Think twice about ordering from here.
Posted 2 years ago by Laura B.
The food is very good, but the delivery takes forever. Every time I order from here, the food is at least 20-25 minutes later than the estimated delivery time. At 9 pm, it's no fun waiting until 10:30 to eat.
My thoughts: Order from here, but order while you're still only "kind of" hungry -- because you'll be really hungry by the time the food actually arrives.
Posted 2 years ago by Lauren H.
The food was late, cold, and inedible. The chicken was old and hard to chew.
Posted 2 years ago by Erick S.
Amazing chicken delicacies.. closest to real Indian food I've experienced at NYC.

Absolute terrible service. I order from here all the time. Tonight, after waiting for TWO HOURS, I called. They kept me on hold, said their delivery guy had gone to the wrong address, and finally told me that the food had been delivered. I confirmed with my building that it had not. Terrible customer service. Won't order here again. Wish I could give zero stars.

For Hell's Kitchen it's your best bet for Indian. Be aware they are constantly slow regardless of pick-up or delivery.
Delivery took too long (a little over an hour). And the meal was already cooling down when it arrived.

Horrible delivery service. Food was cold and took more than 1.5 hours to get the food when estimated time was 25 min.

I was extremely disappointed by the delivery service of Basera; I've had some difficult delivery problems with other restaurants in the past, but this was by far the worst. First, it took an hour for me to recieve a call that the food had arrived (est. 25-40 wait), which happens, and when I went downstairs about 2-3 minutes later, mostly waiting for the elevator, the delivery person was no where to be found. I waited for about 5 minutes (sometimes the delivery people tell you they're there before they arrive so they don't have to wait--ok) and called the restaurant. This is where things took the worst turn I have ever experienced with seamless ordering -- the manager (of all people) told me that both the delivery person and he, personally, had called me and no one had answered so the delivery person had gone to the next delivery. Not only do I have no idea what he was talking about, given that I had recieved a call just before coming down, but the manager was extremely rude and accusatory, I had no missed calls and he said they had a policy of not leaving voice messages, so I have no idea if they actually tried to call me and, for some reason, could not get through. In any case, what was really troubling to me about this experience was the attitude of the manager. I won't be ordering from Basera again.

Solid but nothing exceptional.
Posted 2 years ago by Samuel R.
Food took an hour plus, stone cold. The "tracker" sent a text to say the food left 50 minutes before it got there (the restaurant is 4 blocks away) - so much for the tracker. A call to the restaurant after 45 minutes got the typical take out restaurant lie - "he left already" without even so much as a check on the order status. Basically treat customers like crap - should not be be on Seamless.

Food is inedible salty. Ordered multiple times thinking maybe it was that one batch. Do not order.
Posted 2 years ago by Dylan H.
The quantity and quality are both quite good. Service was timely. My special requests were honored with no questions. The only thing preventing me from giving a 5-star rating is that the Chicken Tikka, each time, has been quite dry. I make my own raita that mostly overcomes this issue but tandoori chicken should not be this dry every time.

Really bad food. Excessively coloured, and with v minimal flavour/taste. The paneer in the paneer korma was overcooked and chewy, and the korma just wasn't tasty. The goat biryani looked appetizing but wasn't flavourful. The gulab jamun was particularly bland, probably the worst I've ever had I'm sorry to say. The mango lassi tasted like mango frooti. The only thing palatable was the plain naan. Such a disappointment.

Ordered Medium spice, but it wasn't spicy at all. Not a good sauce to meat ratio either (and it was too tomato tasting for my liking). fast delivery, fair portions

yuck orange food coloring and ragu spaghetti sauce is not indian food. Worst chicken tikka masala I've ever had. Tastes nothing like it's supposed to taste. It's very sweet, tomatoey and Neon Organe with some green herbs floating around in the sauce. Naan and rice very good.

awesome, fresh, not greasy like a few others i've tried around midtown/midtown west and the taste or seasoning was heavenly!!!
Posted 3 years ago by Debbie R.
Extremely rude staff. Food came with an orange coloring, and when we called to find out what it was, it took them 5 minutes to admit that there was a coloring, after which they proceeded to vehemently deny it. All we wanted to know was, what the coloring was, to make sure no one was allergic to it. The front manager slammed the phone on our face after being extremely rude. Would never order from here again, and might even consider reporting to the health department.
Posted 3 years ago by Rama N.
Very nice Indian option for midtown lunch. Lunch specials are reasonably priced and generously portioned - a 16oz container of whatever curry you ordered, and a 16 oz. container of rice with a couple of large pieces of naan. Hot means HOT, so be prepared if you order your food spicy. Will be part of our regular rotation from now on.

I placed an order, because I have liked the food before, but I ordered EVERYTHING MILD and this delivery came spicy. I'm not sure what happened this time, but all three orders were super spicy, which is ridiculous when there is a mild choice. Unfortunately, I will not be ordering from them anymore. Sorry Basera!

Best Indian Food in all of Hells Kitchen without a doubt. There is not even a close second. You would need to go across town or downtown to find better, consistently prepared Indian food. Expensive but most Indian food worth eating usually is. Saag is always flavorful and chicken in dishes is almost always moist and tender. Naan is only ok, a bit dry, and not on par with the rest of their food. I have tried them all, uptown, downtown, and Basera is one of the best in the whole darn town if you love deep intoxicating Indian cuisine.

Warning: Some of these reviews say that they couldn't taste any spice, or that their food was not spicy enough... I added "extra spicy" as a note to my order of Chicken Tikka Masala and I it could very well be the spiciest Indian food I have had in NYC. I thoroughly enjoy extremely spicy Indian food so I'm giving this place 5 stars for the fact that this particular dish was so hot. When I say hot, I mean that as a seasoned spicy food eater, this made my eyes water... it made my mouth so hot it was almost numbing, my throat closed up, and I think my stomach might be bleeding. If you enjoy HOT then add "extra spicy" as a note and you won't be disappointed. Don't order something medium and then complain that it's not spicy enough. As a side note, the naan and calamari wasn't that great, although I'm a bit far from this place so it could be that it was just soggy from delivery. I've ordered from this place before, but figured I would try it because of the delivery week prix fixe special.

I had the lamb rogan josh, it was okay. Not the best or worst indian food I've had in NYC. Could have used more of a flavor kick, but maybe thats because the default order is mild. Also, the naan wasn't as fluffy as I like. Would order again if other neighborhood spots prove disappointing. Price was right and quick delivery.

The Chicken Makhani was really good but the portion wasn't big enough in terms of chicken (plenty of rise and sauce, though). Delivery as advertised - 45 minutes. I'll give them 5 stars once they put in more protein (or drop the prices).

Not the best Indian food I've had. We ordered the Paneer Makhani and the Chicken Makhani, and both were okay at first but went downhill after each bite. It could just be a Makhani issue, but I am in no rush to order from here again. Also, $4 for 2 small pieces of plain naan. Really?! We were really looking forward to an Indian food night and the quality of the food was disappointing. Hopefully their other dishes are better.

I have ordered from here a few times and eaten in person once here too. The food is generally very good. I was however dissapointed this evening when I called to let them know that a peice of the chicken tandoori I ordered was very undercooked, and he said "it was only one peice, I'll tell the chef" and then quickly hung up.

Tasty & timely. The Basera Daal was excellent, and (finally) when they say "spicy" they mean it. Just like home! The samosas were a bit heavy on the potato and tasted like grease, but the sauces that accompanied them were so delicious I ate it anyway.

I really do enjoy the lunch special from Basera... the portions are huge and tasty. However, the estimated delivery times are normally about half (30 minute estimate turns into TWO hours) the reality. Furthermore, when you call to look into the status of the order the staff is not helpful. For this reason I will no longer order from Basera, and suggest you take your business elsewhere as well.
Posted 4 years ago by Nicholas P.
Have ordered from here many times and the food is consistently good. Also, I recently mistakenly sent them to the wrong address and when i realized it an hour later, they were at my apartment in 5 minutes with my order perfectly intact, hot, and as consistent as ever. Good food, great service!
Posted 4 years ago by Robert S.
really subpar for the price. tikka masala tasted like tomato sauce; bread was chewy; chicken was not cooked tandoori. Minar is way better and way cheaper

I LOVE Basera Indian Bistro! The food always has such great flavor. I've tried a few things on the menu and have been extremely pleased with all of them. Delivery is very fast, and the portions are big enough that I can usually make another meal out of the leftovers. The prices are reasonable (except for the $4 naan ...). This is definitely my favorite Indian restaurant.

Excellent food and super fast delivery! Highly recommend.

Very impressed with the Chicken Tikka Masala.
The sauce was amazing and truly spiced right with great flavor.
The chicken was thoroughly cooked and I know it sounds silly but that's a big bonus too.! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I paid 4 bucks for a side of Naan!
Hey we all love naan, and I don't regret getting it, but I was still a bit irked that it cost $4 (im used to paying at most 2 bucks for naan). BUT once again, of all the Indian places I've tried in this area the Sauce was the most delicious. Looking forward to trying some other things out..
*I should note it did take almost an hour for delivery. I didn't mind..was worth the wait...But If you are already hungry and in a rush..just bear that in mind. (Better to be surprised with an early delivery then what feels like a late one right?)
Posted 5 years ago by Eric D.
Nice enough...not blow your mind amazing, but definitely more than acceptable.

This place is awesome. We have tried many different Indian restaurants here in the city. Basera was the last place we tried. We have been ordering from them since. The tika masala has the right consistency and flavors that you would expect. Its all white meat chicken, which says alot! Many places say its white meat, but many give you dark fatty pieces of meat. The chicken tika dish is also a favorite of mine. Its all white meat chicken, well marinated, and never dry. The onion nan is amazing

This place took 2 hours to deliver food to my apartment. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM. When I placed a call after an hour, they told me the food was already out for delivery. 35 minutes later it still did not come and I was told the same response and then hung up on after being polite.
Posted 5 years ago by Jack C.
Tikka Masala and Chicken Korma were very bland in spite of the fact that they order "medium spicy." The Tikka Massa tased sort-of like canned tomato sauce (think Ragu) and there was nothing in the Korma aside from chicken (no vegetables, nuts -- nothing). The Chana Masalla, ordered "spicy" was the best of the bunch and is the only thing I would consider ordering again. However, I am confident I won't be ordering again.

I always order the chicken tikka masala lunch special. The portions and value are excellent here as well as the flavors and the naan. I do sometimes get disappointed with the dryness of the chicken tikka, but the delicious masala sauce more than makes up for it.

Posted 5 years ago by Jonas A.
The worst Indian food I've ever had. I wish I had read some of the other reviews before ordering. The chicken masala tastes like it was cooked in tomato sauce. The coconut soup was milk with some dry shredded coconut added at the end. The rice was good.

Chicken tikka masala tastes like Campbell's tomato soup - can't taste any spice at all, just sugar.
Posted 6 years ago by Jessica A.
Don't waste your money if you get chicken dishes. They simply boil chunks of chicken to put in whatever sauce you order. I ordered Chicken Vindaloo and Chicken Korma. The chicken pieces were absolutely tasteless since they do not marinate the chicken. Will not order from this place again.

Posted 6 years ago by Amy H.
Barely any lamb in the Lamb VIndaloo--just mediocre sauce. And dry samosas. Never again.
Posted 6 years ago by David B.
OK, but nothing special. The sauce for the Chicken Tikka Masala was very ketchup-y & the samosas were heavy and greasy. They were also very laid-back on delivery; took roughly 45 minutes for the food to show up, I wasn't in a hurry so that was OK, but the food wasn't very hot when it got here. Don't think I'll order from here again.
Posted 6 years ago by Hannah B.
This place stinks vs other, better, Indian restaurants. I should have known with the lower prices. The Chicken Tikka was okay...Lamb Curry stunk. Rice was bad, and they screwed up my order.
Never ordering from here again.

The food was good but the delivery service was poor. The delivery man did not have a phone and, when they could not find him after 45 minutes (the original estimate had been 15-30 minutes), they had to send a second delivery man with my order.

TERRIBLE. We ordered our food and was given the standard 15-30 minutes for delivery. We live 7 blocks from the restaurant and called after 35 minutes of waiting. We were told it would be another 10 minutes, the delivery guy just left. 20 minutes later still no food. Finally 30 minutes late the food arrived and was nice and COLD! Called to cancel the order. Nothing was done to keep our business and show us we were valued customers.
TERRIBLE SERVICE AND DELIVERY TIME. Only order from here if you want overpriced COLD food!

Excellent food, tasty and spicy. Large portions, enough for lunch and even dinner.

We order from Basera all the time and the food never disappoints. The chicken tikka masala is a personal favorite, the food always arrives hot and is consistently delicious. I recommend going to the restaurant if you get a chance (they usually give us a free desert!) but it's just as good if you order in, too.

DELICIOUS! We ordered extra food under the premise that we would save it for lunch the next day. Unfortunately for us the food was too tasty and we ate all of it! We will DEFNITELY order from here again. YUM!!

I think it's one of the best indians in the city & I order delivery pretty much every week. I took my family there for lunch last month when they were in town - the consensus was (and we're a family that eat a hell of a lot of indian) that the food was very good, the staff were friendly and at the price it was a total total steal.
The only improvement I'd want is to have vindaloo/tikka masala sauces sold as separate orders. I like to order 'chicken tikka' and then have a vindaloo or tikka masala sauce on the side to tip on. At the moment I have to make a choice - chicken tikka OR tikka masala OR vindaloo - if they could add the sauces as separate then I'd be even happier - but as far as good, reliable indian food in New York City goes this place is 5 Star anyway.

The best Indian food that I have ever had! Try the Malai Kofta, Chicken Korma, and Lamb Vindaloo - just to name a few of the wonderful, spicy, flavorful dishes. The Naan (both garlic and stuffed) is excellent. If you want to have an evening out (rather than ordering in), I recommend venturing to Basera. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with an open front for warm evenings. Importantly, the wait staff is friendly and attentive, and the chef appreciates complements. We enjoyed several complimentary items after raving about his talents -- for example, the veggie fritters and mango chutney, which we will definitely add to our list for our next order!

If this is good Indian food, then midtown is in real trouble. YUKE. The best part of the meal was the rice.

Had bindhi masala lunch special. It came with Naan and basmati rice.
It was just ok, I have had better and worse. The rice was interesting, it had cloves and saffron in it.
I also ordered the vegatable samosas. They were good but alittle on the plain side.

Wish there was a 1.5....cause I round up. Okay, first of all, the food was 20 - 25 minutes early, but I happened to already be home so that wasn't a problem even though I just got home from the gym. Better hot and early than cold and late. I ordered a tossed salad (typically not an indian specialty), veg. samosa's, roti, basmatic rice, and a chicken curry dish (forgot which one).
The salad was warm from the other dishes being in the same bag and the balsalmic vinagrette dressing was just balsalmic vinegar! Yuck. The rice and the samosa's were average at best, and the chicken was rubbery and not particularly flavorful.
Not giving these guys a 2nd chance.

I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, samosa, and the onion naan. The onion naan was the best of the 3. the samosas were kind of small and a little dry. The tikka masala sauce was just ok and chicken was very dry. i would not order again. i find sapphire to be much better.
